| about The Ice Cream Man, a 35mm short film written and directed by Dylan Rush, illuminates a melting pot of cultures in a two-mile radius of Venice Beach. A former Soviet bureaucrat and a Korean immigrant face off in an ice cream vendors' turf war on these rough streets. When a territorial dispute ensues they are forced to learn a new language: one without words. They soon realize they not only have more in common with each other but also with the African-American community into which they have been transplanted. The Ice Cream Man had its world premiere only a few weeks after completion, in March of 2002 at the 20th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, and screened again by invitation at the 1st Santa Cruz Film Festival the following May. San Francisco's Exploratorium, the featured The Ice Cream Man in its 2002 film series. September brought the 6th Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, followed by the 2003 Woods Hole Film Festival in Cape Cod, and the 2003 Silverlake Film Festival in Los Angeles.
